The couple exchanging ringsOn Friday September 18, Janniche Skråmestø and Silje Slaatebræk got married at the Norwegian embassy in Sofia. They are probably the first same sex couple to get married at a Norwegian embassy in accordance with the new marriage act of January 1, 2009.
On this special occasion some representatives from organization working for acceptance of sexual minorities an equal right in general were invited, as were some researchers. These are organization that the embassy has cooperated with on earlier occasions concerning equal rights and social acceptance of sexual minorities in accordance with the guidelines on work in this field.
Some journalists were also present at the ceremony which was mentioned in the newspaper 24 Chasa and in a program on were also the ambassador, Tove Skarstein, was interviewed.
