Environmental and social issues are key priorities in the agreements on EEA and Norway Grants signed with Bulgaria today. Green innovation, energy efficiency, human traficking and the Roma population will be in focus. Read more

Following its entry into the EU and EEA in 2007, Bulgaria became a beneficiary of the EEA and Norway Grants, and allocated €41.5 million between 2007 and 2009 to fund social and economic development projects and strengthen cooperation with entities in the three donor states. For the period 2009-2014 Bulgaria has been allocated € 126.6 million. Read more

The EEA and Norway Grants organised a workshop on gender equality on 8 March 2011 in Brussels. The event brought together stakeholders from the EEA and Norway Grants donor states and 15 beneficiary countries, as well as relevant EU-level organisations. Read more

Wednesday the 28 July 2010, the EEA/EFTA countries signed an agreement with the EU on new financial contributions. Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre commented: “The new EEA Financial Mechanism gives Norway a historic opportunity to strengthen cooperation with the new EU member states.” The grant amount earmarked for Bulgaria totals 126.6 million euro for the 2009-2014 period.
