At the opening ceremony, which took place on 16 May 2011, Mr. Parvanov expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Norway for the financial support allocated to the project, implemented in partnership between Municipality of Karlovo, Community Agency for Sustainable Development, Vassil Levski National Museum, Vassil Levski Foundation and Bulgarian - Norwegian Association. Besides the reconstruction of the house, it involves popularization of the life and deed of Bulgarian Apostle of Freedom Vassil Levski.
In Karlovo Mr. Parvanov and Ms. Skarstein met students helping the information centre in making the life and deed of Vassil Levski better known abroad. The director of Vassil Levski museum Mrs. Dora Chausheva presented to the guests a book on Levski as the Bulgarian “Apostle of Freedom”, comparing his ideas and democratic values to famous European revolutionaries, public figures and democrats from the 19th century such as Mazzini, Garibaldi, Kosuth, Herzen. A special chapter of the book is dedicated to Nansen as a person, politician and explorer. The publication is available in 7 languages, including Norwegian.
