The conference was opened by Ms. Dagfrid Hjorthol - Charge d'affaires a.i. of the Norwegian Embassy. In her opening remarks Ms. Hjorthol referred to the Norwegian expertise and experience in the energy sector, focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energy and green industry innovation, pointing out that these areas are priority sectors within the new EEA and Norway Grants to Bulgaria, where we see possibilities for establishing bilateral partnerships between Bulgaria and Norway within the public sector as well as the private sector.
The first discussion panel was attended by the Bulgarian Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism and the Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development and Public Works. The two ministers presented the challenges in the energy field in Bulgaria and outlined the Bulgarian energy strategy up to 2020.
The main topics discussed during the conference were focused on green economy, energy efficiency of public and private buildings, the new law for renewable energy in Bulgaria, the role of the business for the development of the green concept, the perspectives of the renewable energy industry and good practices sharing.
The conference was attended by the Renewable Energy Corporation (REC), Norway. The company shared it’s experience in the solar energy industry and introduced its solutions to the Bulgarian audience.
